Two schoolmates growing up together.
As time would have it,
Here they are now,
Vowing their friendship for forever.
The Crux: Schoolmates to Soulmates
This is the ‘happily ever after’ story of Aprajitha Singh and Adit Shamanur, our bejewelled bride and groom for this spring edition of Magnificent Weddings at C. Krishniah Chetty, featured by Times of India.
After over a decade of sharing a school-grown friendship that blossomed into an unconditional bond, Aprajitha, and Adit decided to walk down the aisle with all the works of a big fat Indian Wedding! Owing to their contrasting cultures and backgrounds, they were determined to give their friends and family a taste of both worlds – be it the loud celebration of the groom arriving on a majestic horse in a dancing baraat or the joy of devouring a finger-licking Davangere dosa on the wedding menu spread. The wedding was a celebration of culture, tradition, heritage, and most of all, love that knows no boundaries.
The wedding trousseau was no exception. Aprajitha, who has a keen eye for the finer things in life, chose vintage-inspired jewellery pieces from C. Krishniah Chetty’s Salon Collection and Kamakshi Assemblage for the nuptials. The jewellery pieces were customised by C. Krishniah Chetty’s expert designers for the engagement and reception ceremonies. The sacred South Indian Mangalsutra was intricately designed in diamonds for the blissful bride.
“During the wedding, I got too many compliments for it and loved the design!”, says a beaming Aprajita.
Planned to perfection with outfits and jewellery that sung true to the magnificent celebration that stood ahead, the big day ultimately, was what dreams are made of.
The Prequel: Time in a Bottle
While Aprajitha and Adit were classmates in school with common friend circles and the carefree spirit of adolescence, their lives took them in exciting directions as they grew older. Adit took off to study in London; Aprajitha continued her higher education in her hometown Hospet. And yet, it was this absence that made their hearts fonder.
“I still remember the day I met my husband like it was yesterday; however, it had been more than a decade since we knew each other. We were both in the same school and same class, and right when I met him, I knew he had something about him that kept me wondering how a guy can be so respectful, well-behaved, and grounded.”, says Aprajitha.
When they finally reunited, now as accomplished adults, they knew they were always meant to be soulmates. It was time to seal the deal.
The Pre-wedding: It Takes a Village
The pre-wedding is all about the little dreamy details that make the big day special. Following the engagement ceremony, Aprajitha and Adit had very little time to organise the wedding. From finding the right wedding planner, to design & decor detailing, to the wedding shopping, the couple involved themselves in every aspect of their special day.
“There were many big and small decisions that needed to be made while planning our wedding, as we both came from two different castes. As the groom was from the Lingayat community and the bride was a Rajput, we decided to follow the groom’s rituals for our wedding process.”, – says Aprajitha. They planned several trips to Bengaluru and Chennai to shop for their wedding trousseau and jewellery. As both Aprajitha and Adit were staunch devotees of Lord Shiva, they decided on a Shiva-Parvathi theme for the wedding with red and cream-coloured flower arrangements. Lord Shiva’s immense love for Goddess Parvathi and her endless devotion to Him always stand testament to the lore of marriages made in heaven. Intentional and meaningful, there could not have been a better way for the couple to celebrate and cherish their wedding day.
“We planned the wedding ceremonies together, and because we had known each other for a long time, it was much easier and more enjoyable for us. Although it seemed like a long way off, Aprajitha and I had one of the most unforgettable days of our lives when the big day finally arrived.”, reminisces Adit as he talks about his D-Day.
Hour Zero: Bejewelled Beginnings
Dressed to the nines, our magnificent couple donned traditional attire on their wedding day. A proper South-Indian wedding was witnessed with the bride in a gorgeous red Kanjeevaram saree and the groom in a custom-made, cream-coloured Sherwani and panche. The wedding ceremonies were a fusion of the North and the Deccan, beautifully amalgamating cultures, cuisines, customs and families from both sides. It was exciting times for the two families who were thrilled to experience a multicultural wedding. Both the familiar and the foreign were celebrated with utmost love and joy.
Shine on you crazy diamond!
