A Cool Blue December: Say Hello to the Tantalising Tanzanite
December is here and so are we, with our little story on the gemstone of the month. This month as the world celebrates its global festival and the winter chills surround us, let us make ourselves a warm cup of coffee and sit snuggled up in a blanket to hear the story of the month. The story of the tantalising tanzanite, the official gemstone for the happiest month of the year.
So, get the coffee ready ready, and let us drive the cool blue road on this cool chilly December.
Chapter 1: A Rainy Night…
It was a stormy night, when the skies poured down and a fateful lightning struck the land in Tanzania, 585 million years ago. This lightning caused a bushfire that set the entire ground alight. Once the fires burnt out and the earth cooled down, the rocks hidden deep inside the earth turned blue.
They say it was an act of God, an act by the supreme power to shed some blue light on our cool blue planet.
This is how fables say that the tanzanite was formed.
Tantalisingly Blue…
Tanzanite is always tantalising with its magical aura and shine, and this garland of felicity from our ateliers is no less stunning. Crafted in 18kt rose gold and embellished eloquently with diamonds and tanzanites, this tantalisingly blue adornment is a heirloom in the making.
Chapter 2: An Indian Connection…
Tanzanite has an Indian connection. History says that the gemstone was discovered by Manuel De Souza, a tailor from Goa. He was travelling in Tanzania in search of gemstones and gold, and during one of his walks through the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro was when he spotted something glistening in the ground. A true-blue shine.
He knew the source of this glow was not sapphire since it was too soft and further studies categorised it as a variety of the mineral Zoisite.
This was how ‘Mad Manuel’ as he was affectionately called unearthed this shining treasure for the world to love, adore and adorn.
Ring in the Blues…
Art is what beckons when white meets blue. Come together and enjoy the artistry as you adorn this piece of artistry and let your fingers do all the shining. Made in 18kt white gold and featuring a glittering tanzanite hero stone, this ring is the easiest way to ring in the glances and keep them glued.
Chapter 3: A Chameleon of Sorts…
Certain crystals are blessed with trichroism. It basically means that the stones exhibit a perceptible difference in colour when looked under different lights, or from unique angles. Our shining friend here catches light and plays with it in many different ways making it appear blue, purple, red or even yellow.
December is indeed a joyful month with celebrations in the air, and it is only fair that the month’s gemstone plays a little with its colours too.
A Cool Blue Melody…
This is the month for songs. Snowy nights, Christmas lights and carols in the air, December’s sure got its vibes on point. A music of a month and it is only fair that you sing your own song as you embrace it. For a change, let your ears do the signing here with these tanzanite earrings. Moulded in 18kt rose gold and designed to stand out and shine bright, this adornment is one that is cool, that is blue and that is oh so dreamy.
Chapter 4: A True Nationalist…
Usually most of the gemstone are found scattered around in different parts of the planet. Tanzanite is a very strong nationalist that way, it has only ever been found in the same place it was discovered – the Merelani Hills of Tanzania.
So, when a tanzanite shines on your adornments, you can rest assured knowing that that shine comes from one place, and one place only.
A Song of Blue and Green…
When renowned author George R.R Martin wrote – The Song of Ice and Fire, he would have thought that only he could come up with a melody that brings two contrasting forces together. Well, he clearly hasn’t visited our ateliers and it totally shows. Here we are bringing twice the shine, twice the charms and twice the grace with this ring of harmony that harmoniously blends in the cool blue tanzanite with the sparkling green emerald, a match made in heaven. Crafted in 18kt rose gold and featuring two precious gemstone, this is one song that definitely needs a place in your wearlist.
Chapter 5: Rare. Rarer. Rarest…
Gemstones are by themselves rare. Tanzanite on the other hand is a little more rarer. Said to be 1000 times rarer than diamonds, this gemstone is the result of a once in a lifetime event. The result of a tectonic shift that created Mount Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley of Tanzania, tanzanite now resides more than 800 metres under the surface of the Earth. Extremely limited and depleting as we speak, this cool blue sparkle is said to be extinct in the next decade if the mining speed continues as it is.
No wonder geologists refer to it as a one generation gemstone.
Embrace the Blue..
Embrace the blue and embrace the charms of this once in a generation gemstone as you let your wrists shine in the coolest bluest way possible. Crafted in 18kt white gold and lavishly studded with tanzanites, this bracelet is as timeless as you are.
Chapter 6: A 24 carat 24th Anniversary…
